In hockey, you get to meet a lot of different people and become friends with them. It is definitely a special sport. I love that part of it.

One thing I hate is people screaming at me. If you want me to do something, talk to me. When someone screams at me to hurry up, I slow down.

You believe you can make it every year. You don't think it's going to end. But the reality is that most teams, you end up in, you end up out.

I think kids need role models. I needed role models when I was growing up and I ran into a lot of different people and that's what helped me.

It's a very good thing for students also to be exposed to people who aren't film students or film scholars but who work in the world of film.

I treat everyone that way I expect to be treated and that applies to marriage. Committed couples should be able to marry the person they love

My parents, especially my dad, had a big influence on my hockey career. He introduced me to the game when I was younger, and I stuck with it.

I think we have played like a playoff team for some time. We can still do better. The key thing right now is to look forward, not behind you.

Hockey is a unique sport in the sense that you need each and every guy helping each other and pulling in the same direction to be successful.

Whenever I won an award in the NHL, I thought of my father and the pride he would get in reading about it and having people mention it to him.

You know what's good? Going on the ice and knowing that you don't have to skate when the whistle blows. All my life I've been the one skating.

Every Christmas we went to my parents' cottage. My big brother would bring his buddies around, and we would play hockey games in the driveway.

My mother passed away of complications of dementia. As you get older, it really makes you realize how many people are touched by this disease.

Look at great teams like Detroit a couple of years ago; they win the Stanley Cup and guys only score 25 goals, nobody has a really big season.

I remember distinctly telling my father-in-law, barring a miracle, we're going to have to terminate the pregnancy. Her health has to come first

Getting traded to Edmonton was fine with me at the time. At the end of the day, though, you just try to do what's best for you and your family.

All of us kids in the neighbourhood had to go shoeless for the same reason - all except the landlord's son, because his father had more income.

I'm a guy that wanted to have fun. When I look back at all the wins I had, I must have had a lot of fun playing the game and made people happy.

Endings are always tough, but I believe when something ends, there are new beginnings, new opportunities and new things to be excited for, too.

We [the Subban brothers] are role models to a lot of kids, not just black kids, but all kids out there and that's what we want to be known for.

For me, I was really lucky to go to a city like Chicago where the team was struggling at the time, and I was able to go in and play right away.

Just try to focus one game at a time, not worry about points or anything like that. Worry about playing the right way and see what comes of it.

I've been slashed, speared, elbowed, board-checked, butt-ended, and hit on the head as much as anyone. I just like to keep the ledger balanced.
