People are difficult to govern because they have too much knowledge.

Can you care for the people and rule the country and not be cunning?

Moderation means prevention. Prevention means achieving much virtue.

If you worry more for others' beliefs, then you will be their slave.

Conquering the world and changing it, I do not think it can succeed.

The wise man doesn't compete; therefore nobody can compete with him.

The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.

Pain and happiness are simply conditions of the ego. Forget the ego.

If you have really attained wholeness, everything will flock to you.

If you correct your mind the rest of your life will fall into place.

Can you step back from your own mind and thus understand all things?

A winner listens, a loser just waits until it is their turn to talk.

Because he (the Sage) demands no honor, he will never be dishonored.

Only fools seek power, and the greatest fools seek it through force.

He who has little will receive. He who has much will be embarrassed.

Displaying riches and titles with pride brings about one's downfall.

Trustable words are not beautiful; beautiful words are not trustable.

He does not feel pity for himself - thus he can successfully develop.

He who prides himself upon wealth and honor hastens his own downfall.

Rule your mind with serenity rather than with force and manipulation.

See simplicity in the complicated. Achieve greatness in little things

All things of the world are born of being; being is born of nonbeing.

Strong winds do not last all morning, hard rains do not last all day.

How could man rejoice in victory and delight in the slaughter of men?

Harmony is called the eternal. Knowing the eternal is called clarity.

Tao invariably takes no action, and yet there is nothing left undone.

What the Way is to the world, the stream is to the river and the sea.

When the great Tao is abandoned, benevolence and righteousness arise.

Conquering others requires force. Conquering oneself requires strength

If there is to be peace in the home, There must be peace in the heart.

He who treasures his body as much as the world can care for the world.

There was something that finished chaos, born before Heaven and Earth.

In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep to the simple.

Use the light that is in you to recover your natural clearness of sight

I find good people good And I find bad people good If I am good enough.

Govern a great nation as you would cook a small fish. Do not overdo it.

Carrying body and soul and embracing the one, Can you avoid separation?

Can you gather your vital breath and yet be tender like a newborn baby?

One who is too insistent on his own views, finds few to agree with him.

Countless words count less than the silent balance between yin and yang

The Tao never acts with force, yet there is nothing that it can not do.

Tao loves and nourishes all things, but does not dominate it over them.

In dwelling, be close to the land. In meditation, go deep in the heart.

The wise does not think that only he is right -thus he knows the truth.
